Detroit's Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament was full on Saturday, May 18 as family, friends, fellow priests and faithful from across the Archdiocese of Detroit joined together to celebrate the presbyteral ordination of the five men through the invocation of the Holy Spirit. Before the laying on of hands, Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron addressed the five men—who have spent years in formation at Sacred Heart Major Seminary and, in the case of Fr. Asher, in Rome—in his homily, emphasizing their new role as spiritual fathers.
Those with a passion for serving others may hear God's call to turn to the diocesan priesthood and consecrated life to fulfill their life’s mission. Religious vocations includes the diocesan priesthood and permanent diaconate, and religious order priests, consecrated life and other religious formations. Each person takes their own path in vocations, which could lead to celebrating the Gospel, teaching children or serving the poor and sick.
The Office of Priestly Vocations’ discernment group for men (18-55) considering the priesthood is having its next meeting on Wednesday, December 14, 7:00-8:30 p.m. New members can join at any time, as there is no requirement to have been at the last meeting. The previous nights have been a great success with many men excited to talk about their possible vocation to the priesthood.
Meetings are led by Fr. Craig Giera, Director of Priestly Vocations, and will include prayer, group discussion on discernment, light refreshments, and fellowship with other like-minded men
