Mercy in Action

Day of Service
- Are you in? As in the past, Our Lady of Victory and other Parishes from across the Archdiocese of Detroit will be witnessing to the power of God’s Mercy during the Seventh Annual Mercy in Action Service Day on Saturday, October 14, with collections before, during and after! This event brings together thousands of volunteers to engage in the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy! The people of Southeast Michigan hunger for an experience of God’s mercy like never before! Join us in serving our community. We welcome all volunteers of all ages! High School students, you can earn service hours while showing compassion and mercy to those in our area who could use our help.

Donate to Catholic Charities
- Donate to Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan and the Center for the Works of Mercy need our immediate assistance. Challenging economic times have led to an increase in demand for food, clothing, and volunteers. We can help those in need by donating any of the following items:
  
  Men’s underwear and undershirts (all sizes)
  
  Women’s underwear/bras (all sizes)
  
  Belts
  
  Small bath towels for Shower days
  
  Hygiene products (i.e. bath soap, deodorant, feminine products)
  
  Please leave your donated items in the labeled bin in the Gathering Space by October 18.
Fall Cleanup and Painting Day
- St. Dominic’s Outreach Center
  Saturday, October 7
  9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  
  Volunteers will be working outside weeding, mowing, trimming bushes, shoring up the handicap ramp and/or painting the handicap ramp. Please dress for outdoors and if painting wear paint clothes. Email Nancy Tolkacz at tolkaczna@gmail.com, if you have any questions or to be placed on the volunteer list.
St. Vincent de Paul 16th Annual Friends Walk
- Please join us for a day of fun, friendship and fundraising to support the work of St. Vincent de Paul. The Friends Walk is Saturday, September 30, at Belle Isle State Park in Detroit. An $11 State Park Recreation Pass is required per vehicle entry. All funds raised for this event will help those in need within the Lapeer, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair and Wayne Counties. A free lunch will be provided.
  
  To register for the walk, please visit: www.fopwalk.org/teamlisting/teamdetail/?teamid=2934 and register under Our Lady of Victory Northville Trekkers. If you would like to donate directly to our SVdP conference, you may place your cash or check donation in an envelope labeled SVdP Walk Donation in either the offertory basket at Mass or at the Parish Office, before September 30. Our conference members will be around to sign-up walkers and/or to accept donations after all Masses the weekend of September 16-17. All proceeds donated directly to us will be used for those in need within our parish boundaries. Please make checks out to St. Vincent de Paul Conference #437 and in memo line please include “Friends Walk donation”. Your support will help us reach our goal.
Pack the Truck: October 14-15
- Donate to St. Vincent DePaul Clothing & Food Drive, October 14-15.
  A trailer will be in the church parking lot collecting gently worn clothes and shoes.
  Please also bring food items to support CIVIC CONCERN.
  Volunteers are needed to load and unload the truck.

Halloween Candy Donation
- Dominic's Outreach Center
  3rd Annual Trunk or Treat Event on October 28
  
  We are collecting candy to be passed out at the Trunck or Treat. All candy should be non-chocolate (for example Skittles, Smarties, Mike and Ikes, Gummy Bears or Worms, Swedish Fish, Twizzlers, Nerds, Sour Patch Kids, Fruit Snacks, etc.) Please place donated items in the bin at church by October 18. Make sure to label your donation "for Dominic's Outreach Center".
  If you wish to volunteer to distribute candy at the event, please contact Nancy Tolkacz at tolkaczna@gmail.com. Volunteers who distribute candy are asked to dress up their cars and/or themselves for a fun Halloween experience. Volunteers need to arrive by 12:30 p.m. and be ready to distribute candy from 1:00-3:00 p.m. or until their candy is gone. Last year each volunteer passed out approximately 100 bags of candy!
Help Cut Out Advent Tree Angels
- We need angels cut out for this year’s Advent Angel Tree. Manila envelopes will be in the Gathering Space to take home. Please return the envelope to the Parish Office once completed or by October 31.
Walking with Moms in Need Information Session
- After all Masses October 14-15
  
  A team of parishioners who are forming Walking with Moms in Need will host a coffee and donut session lasting about 15 minutes after each Mass on October 14-15. Plan to come and learn more about the need and the plan for walking with moms during pregnancy and beyond the birth. See how you can become a volunteer!
