The Intercessory Prayer Team at OLV has been meeting and praying for our parish for many years, every Monday night from 7:00-8:00 p.m., in the Martha Mary Room. They answered the call to pray for the recent Archdiocese of Detroit Synod 16 when each parish was asked to form an Intercessory Prayer Team. They are a part of evangelization efforts at the parish and pray specifically for its success!
Guidepost 10 of Unleash the Gospel: “Calling Upon the Advocate,” states that prayer and intercession are indispensable components of the new evangelization, since God the Holy Spirit is the principal agent for unleashing the Gospel. Prayer is the way we access the unlimited divine power of the Holy Spirit, the Advocate. The main reason Synod 16 was itself an experience of a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit was that it was preceded by a whole year of fervent prayer!
The Role of Intercessors: Marker 10:2 in Unleash the Gospel tells us that those who enter into intercessory prayer ministry make a decision to pray on behalf of a person or group of people. Intercessors “go between” the Lord and those who need prayer. This ministry is extremely important to the future of the Church in Detroit. The fruitfulness of evangelization depends upon graces called down through intercession.
If you would like to be a part of this important ministry in our parish, you are welcome to join us on the second and fourth Monday of each month from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Please let us know if you have any questions!
Thank you and God Bless!
